Q&A
What is your hometown?
Taipei, Taiwan
What is your favorite recording?
Impossible to answer! Too many and my taste changes pretty often.
What are you passionate about outside of music?
Mostly food.
Who were your major teachers?
Hsin-Yun Huang, James Dunham, and Jodi Levitz.
What question do you wish students would ask sooner rather than later?
“What would you like your music to do for the community?”
What was the defining moment when you decided to pursue music as a career?
I can't say there's a defining moment, just that the longer I play music, the more amazing and inspiring people I meet. So I keep going.
What was a turning point in your career?
Honestly, I'm still waiting for it to happen ...
If you weren't a musician or teacher, what do you think you would be doing now?
Possibly farming.
What is your daily practice routine?
Any free time that I'm not teaching/rehearsing/writing emails. Depends on how my body feels, I'll practice whatever doesn't feel good on that day.
If you could play only three composers for the rest of your life, who would they be?
Bach, Beethoven, and Schoenberg.
What is your unrealized project?
Inventing my own new flavor of chocolate.
