Polish Your Skills.
A lot can happen in a year. As a PSC student in the RJAM program, you will study with and perform alongside select members of the SFJAZZ Collective and other world-class touring artists. RJAM Seminar will be the dynamic core of this program. Students will hone their skills in improvisation, composition, repertoire, and jazz styles in ensembles of seven to eight students for eight hours each week. RJAM faculty will rotate, working with the different ensembles weekly and sharing their expertise with all of the students.
Off campus, PSC students will gig at a wide array of performance venues in San Francisco ranging from SFJAZZ across the street to Bay Area favorites, including Mr. Tipples Recording Studio, The Black Cat, and Bird and Beckett. Our interconnected courses are built to transform you intellectually, artistically, professionally, and individually. This PSC program consists of a selection of courses from the RJAM curriculum that focus specifically on honing high-level performance skills, as well as embracing a deeper understanding of the culture of jazz music and its global and Afrocentric roots.
